the Land (Season 1, Episode 22 - February 13, 1960) When a cold blooded, murdering sheep herder and his men try to cross the
Ponderosa with their large herd of sheep, Ben Cartwright orders them off his property. The owner of the sheep then plots to
kidnap one of the Cartwrights and force Ben to sign over 50,000 acres of his land to him.

Justice (Season 1, Episode 23 - February 20, 1960) When a brutal U.S. Marshal arrests one of the Ponderosa's workers for murder
to transport him to Los Angeles for trial, and a doubtful Hoss and Adam come along in the stagecoach, along with a Dr. and
his beautiful daughter, to make sure the Marshal doesn't kill him before they get there. The question also arises later of
whether the ranch worker is really guilty and dangerous after all.

against Ben Cartwright.

to Ponderosa (Season 1, Episode 25 - March 5, 1960) Adam is bushwhacked by three men, who turn out to have deserted from the
army. When Ben pursues them, he is hindered by a Captain Bolton, who is also after the three men.

The Avenger (Season 1, Episode 26 - March 19, 1960) Ben and Adam are in the Virginia City jail waiting to be hanged. Last minute bids by Joe and Hoss to get them out
are hindered by another rancher who wants to see Ben dead. A stranger arrives in town looking for his father's murderer, but
is he a help or a hinderance in Joe and Hoss's quest to set their father and brother free?

Trophy (Season 1, Episode 27 - March 26, 1960) When an English couple comes to the Ponderosa on vacation, the beautiful
wife slowly makes it clear that is no longer proud of her great hunter husband, because he has become less of the action man
she married and more of a peaceful man, but that could all change when they are kidnapped for ransom along with Adam Cartwright.

San Francisco
Holiday (Season 1, Episode 28 - April 2, 1960) The Cartwrights, with Hop Sing, finish a cattle drive in San Francisco.
Ben warns the other men of the dangers of the big city. Nevertheless, some of the men are careless and naive. Two of the hired
hands disappear, and Ben suspects that the men were shanghaied. With invaluable assistance from several of Hop Sing's cousins,
the Cartwrights locate the missing men and break up the racket.

Water (Season 1, Episode 29 - April 9, 1960) A neighboring rancher, Andy, is good friends with Ben, but his son (Todd)
wants to sell their land for mining operations which will spoil the water rights agreement that Andy and Ben made years ago.

Feet of
Clay (Season 1, Episode 30 - April 16, 1960) A woman dies. Her husband is in prison, and the sheriff needs someone to
look after the boy until the boy's uncle can come to claim him. The Cartwrights begin to take care of the boy at the Ponderosa.
When the boy arrives at the ranch, he does not know that his father is in prison. The boy learns the truth about his dad,
and news reaches the Ponderosa that the convict has escaped from prison. The Cartwrights deal with the possibility that the
boy's father may be coming their way.

Dark Star (Season 1, Episode 31 - April 23, 1960) Joe is about to shoot what he thinks is a wolf and discovers it is a woman. The woman turns out to be a gypsy, who
her people think is possessed by the devil. Joe falls in love and she is taken in by the Cartwrights, after her family shuns
her. Joe is determined to find out what is really going on behind the strange happenings that are blamed on the woman.

Dawn (Season 1, Episode 32 - April 30, 1960) The town is being run by bad guys and the Cartwrights decide it has to stop.
When a local merchant is gunned down for refusing to pay protection, Farmer Perkins is tried and sentenced to hang. Ben is
taken hostage by Perkins' employer, with threats to hang Ben if Farmer is not released.

Showdown (Season 2, Episode 1 - September 10, 1960) On the lam from the law, bank robber Sam Kirby and his gang hide out on the Ponderosa. Hoping to keep track of his
pursuers, Sam secures a job as a ranchhand under an assumed name. Everybody on the ranch welcomes this friendly stranger to
the fold-everyone, that is, except the highly suspicious Joe Cartwright.

The Mission (Season 2, Episode 2 - September 17, 1960) Feeling responsible for the massacre of a troop of soldiers, former Army scout Charlie Trent has become the town
drunk. But when Cavalry Captain Pender sends word to Virginia City that he is in need of a reliable scout for a dangerous
misison, Hoss Cartwright recommends Charlie, determined to rehabilitate the pathetic derelict.

Badge Without
Honor (Season 2, Episode 3 - September 24, 1960) After a U.S. deputy marshal apparently saves Adam's life by gunning down
two men who shot at him, he eventually reveals that he in town to bring a close friend of the Cartwrights to San Francisco
to testify in a statewide racketeering trial, but the Deputy Marshal's motives soon become suspect as to what he really want
to do with the reluctant witness.

The Mill (Season 2, Episode 4 - October 1, 1960) The Cartwrights' neighbor Tom Edwards has lived as a paraplegic, ever since an accident involving Ben Cartwright
and a gun. His ranch is going to waste. His wife Joyce is a longtime friend of Ben, and Ben decides to help the Edwards couple
by making Tom a business proposition: the Cartwrights will build a grain mill on Edwards' land. In return, Ben only wants
his investment money back, plus fifteen percent. Tom and his hired hand Ezekiel are suspicious of Ben, but Tom agrees to the
deal. The Cartwright men build the mill, but tension begins to rise when Ezekiel makes comments which rekindle Tom's suspicion.

The Hopefuls (Season 2, Episode 5 - October 8, 1960) Jacob Darien, the leader of a Quaker sect which has purchased land in California. While crossing the Ponderosa in
a special wagon transporting the money for the land transaction, Jacob's daughter Regina (Patricia Donahue) persuades her
father to have Adam and Hoss Cartwright act as escorts for the Quaker wagon train. Accompanying the Cartwright boys is Adam's
new friend Sam Bond who secretly schemes to steal the Quakers' funds at the first opportunity.

Denver
McKee (Season 2, Episode 6 - October 15, 1960) Ranchers are being killed, cattle stolen, and retired U.S. Deputy Marshall
Denver Mckee leads various posses after the suspects but never seems to be able to find them. In the meantime, Mckee seems
to have plenty of money to take care of his gorgeous daughter back home from schooling in the East.
